EXHIBIT: "Tea Traditions"
ABOUT THE EXHIBIT:
The Gandhi Memorial Center presents “Tea Traditions” - a photographic tribute to the fascinating tea traditions around the world by Tilak Hettige. The exhibit will remain on display from December 11, 2021 to January 29, 2022 and may be viewed on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and by appointment.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Tilak Hettige is a Chemical Engineer by training. He has worked in the Photography Industry since 1981 in Sri Lanka, Oman, and the USA. He studied at the New England School of Photography in Boston, USA and has photographed various themes for his books in over 50 countries. Tilak is an accomplished author-photographer, who gained international recognition as photographer of the year in 1997 in the International Photographic Society in Washington D.C. Soon after he moved to Manila, and pursued art photography.
In addition to subsequently winning many other awards, Tilak’s work has been published in several books, international newspapers, magazines and calendars including I-Mag Photography, Manila. His photographs have been displayed in solo-exhibitions in the Philippines, Korea, Japan, and the United States, in group-exhibitions in a number of other countries, and showcased in private collections. Tilak resided in Manila for 24 years and is a member of the prestigious Camera Club of the Philippines, where he worked on many publications and taught his craft at the Philippine Center for Creative Imaging. Before the pandemic, for 10 years he had annual workshops at the BenCab Museum In Baguio.
